Miyo Sia

My daily doze of love for make-up + everything else under the sun ♥
Disclaimer: Sigma Beauty Affiliate links are available within the site.

Fall is almost here so I was inspired to play with makeup last night when I went out of town with my cousin. It is a wearable look great for night outs and clubbing. I was in a rush so I only used 1 brush to do the look. Yes, that is possible :D I used the Sigma E25 tapered blending brush (M.A.C. equivalent is 217 brush) to apply all the colors.

To get the look:
1. Apply eye primer as this look tend to crease and if you are going out clubbing, an eye primer will help your makeup stay longer.
2. Pat on a matte cream shadow that is slightly lighter to your skintone and apply highlights on the inner corners of your eyes and under your brows.
3. Apply a cream shimmer shadow on your lids starting in the inner corner towards the center and a pink shimmer shadow from the outer corner blending towards the center. Blend out the color to remove harsh lines.
4. Then using a purple shadow, add depth to your eyes by applying it on the outer corner, concentrating on the outer V area and moving towards the crease. Keep blending the color until you get the gradient effect.
5. Using the tip of the brush, apply a black matte shadow on the outer corner to add more depth.
6. Finish off the look with a black liner and mascara.

Have you ran out of makeup remover and yet too busy to get a new one? It happens to me every time. Due to my busy schedule, the only place I lately go to is office and grocery. We all know that it is a must that we remove our makeup at the end of the day and make sure that our skin is spotlessly clean before we go to bed to avoid breakouts. Since my routine these days doesn't give me time to go to a beauty shop to buy a new makeup remover, I decided to try out something that I have been told in one of the beauty classes that I have attended.

Use Extra Virgin Olive Oil(EVOO). Not only these can remove makeup but it can also help improve your skin texture. It has vitamin E and anti-oxidants which also serves as a moisturizer. Aside from easily taking off makeup, it also moisturizes the skin and lips, and conditions your lashes too! :) If you have dry skin then this is recommended.

If you have oily skin, I would recommend Virgin Coconut Oil(VCO) since it is not as thick as the EVOO. Also, VCO is highly recommended for those with oily skin. So if you have oily or combination skin, VCO is safer to use.

So what I do is put 3-4 drops of EVOO to a cotton ball and lightly sweep it over my eyelids to remove eye makeup. I always remove eye makeup first since this is the area where I have more products on. Once the eyes are clear of any makeup, I then take another 3-4 drops on my fingers and lightly massage the EVOO over my face in an outward upward motion. Then using a cotton pad, I wipe the oil off including makeup. I repeat the steps until I see it clear when I wipe my face with a cotton pad. After removing the makeup, I clean my face with a cleansing foam, apply toner and moisturizer (VCO is also a good moisturizer).

Just a caution, make sure that you observe your skin for the first week of application since just the same with any skin care product, it may have different reaction to different types of skin. If you notice redness or breakouts, then stop using it and keep your skin off of makeup or any product until your skin goes back to normal. Best would be to do a skin test for 48 hours and see if it has any negative reaction before trying it.

It has always been a dilemma for me to find really good or interesting beauty product that I want to try only to find out that it has payment and shipping restrictions to non-US residents. I have been frustrated a lot of times because of this. Since I am in Philippines, good quality makeup products are not readily available. What's worse is that there isn't that much selection available in the market.

I friend and HS classmate told me about the site, HopShopGo.com. It is an online facility that provides assistance for purchasing - either payment, shipping or both - not only for international buyers but also US buyers as well. It is a partnership between PayPal and comGateway to create a more secure, convenient and fun online shopping experience for PayPal users.

I looked around the site and it gave me hope! I have a few items in my wishlist which I cannot buy because the site either requires a US credit card or ships only to US. ^_^

Here are some of the site features:
1. When you register to the site (you need your paypal account to be able to log in), you are given a US address FREE of charge.
2. You can shop for items from thousands of US online stores and ship your purchases to your US address.
3. You can order through the site and they buy the item for you for online stores that accept major US credit cards only.
4. It lets you combine your purchases from different merchants into one shipment to reduce shipping costs.
5. Gives you access to deals offered by many online stores.

Here are some beauty online stores that you can shop from*:
- Sephora
- benefitcosmetics
- M.A.C.
- Juicy Couture
- Victoria's Secret
- Bath & Body Works
*the site is not restricted to just beauty products

I am excited to know that sites like this exist :) If anyone of you already know about this site. Please share your experience with it :)

I came up with another look which is really good for brown eyes. If you have blue eyes, this is also a nice makeup to wear just concentrate more on adding gold color than blue.
Steps to achieve the look:
1. First is to apply an eye primer to your lids as well as on your lower lash line.
2. Using a flat eyeshadow brush, take a light blue shimmer shadow and pat on the color from the outer corner going towards the mid-section of your lid. Make sure that the blue color gradually fades as it gets to the mid-section. If you have blue eyes, you may just keep it up to the quarter of your lids or just concentrate on the outer corners of your eyes.
3. Take an angled brush and lightly blend the color out towards the crease and apply very light touch of the shadow to your upper lash line

4. Using the tip of the angled brush, apply a darker blue shimmer shadow to the outer corner of your eyes. Just concentrate on the outer V to give depth to your eyes.
5. Using a pencil brush, take a black matte shadow and apply to the outer corner to intensify the darker blue.
6. Use a puffy brush or a big blending brush, and blend out the colors until there are no harsh lines. You may reapply the colors as needed until you get the desired intensity.
7. Take another flat eyeshadow brush and pat on gold shimmer shadow from the inner corners and slightly going over the light blue shadow blend both colors until there are no harsh lines.
8. Optional: Pat on glitter shadow (white or translucent) over your lids.
9. Using a blending brush apply white matte shadow to the corners of your eyes.
10. Apply highlight under your brows by putting on a matte shadow that is a bit lighter to your skin tone. If you like to really intensify the look, you can use the same white eyeshadow that you used in the inner corners of your eyes.
11. Take a copper eyeliner and line your lower lash line, smudge it out using a q-tip or an eyeliner brush.
12. Finish off the look by adding a black liner to your upper lids and mascara. I also put on false lashes for a more dramatic look. Apply black eyeliner just at the outer corner of your lower lash line to define your eye shape.

I used a pink blush and I want it very subtle so I just buffed it over my cheeks. Then apply your favorite lipstick. I sticked with a light shade since I like to soften the look and applied a lip gloss just in the middle section of my lips for highlight :)

It's been a while since I actually posted something about the makeup I wear for the day. So here is the look I have today :)

It is a simple wearable makeup with a hint of light blue and apple green. As most of you know, I am not much of a fan of artsy makeup so most of the looks I wear is subtle. To create the look, I started with a brown shadow as base. Starting with a color slightly darker than my skin tone, I pat on the color to my lids and blend it out so it gradually fades toward the brow area. Then I get a very dark brown shadow and contour the outer corners of my eyes blending towards the crease and mid section of my lid. Then I take a light blue shadow and pat it over my lids doing the same step with the brown shadow. I then used a navy blue shade and contour my eyes by lightly swirling the brush from the outer corner towards the crease until it blends well with the lighter blue shadow. To finalize the look, I take an apple green shadow and pat it on the lids starting from the inner corners blending towards the mid section until it is blended on the blue contour. Finish off the look with an eyeliner and mascara.

If you prefer a really colorful look, you can then skip the brown shadows so the colors will stand out and look very bright. :)

Since Sigma Makeup introduced individual brush sale, I finally am able to buy new brushes from their new site http://www.sigmabeauty.com. I got their Flat Top Kabuki and Lip brush. Originally, the lip brush is only available for purchase with their Premium Kit. I have been waiting for this to be available so I am happy they finally decided to sell brushes in the kit individually ^_~

I personally have not tried these two brushes yet so I will just give my first impression on these and I will try it for several weeks to officially post a review on them.

Flat Top Kabuki:
This brush is similar to the Fiber Duo brush just that it is more compact and denser. Also it feels really soft on the skin. It reminds me of a powder puff when I stipple it on my cheeks. I think this will be a good brush to blend face products as well as create a natural looking finish. This brush is also good for creating subtle contours, highlights and blush. Since the bristles feel like powder puff, I thought that it would also be great for Sigma to create a brush with bigger top area with same density that will work as a powder puff. I would be happy if someone will make those since brushes are easier to clean than powder puffs :)

Lip Brush:
The nice thing that I like so much about this brush is that it is travel size and extended handle for better control. The stainless steel cap protects the bristles when not in use so you don't have to worry about contamination or damage when you put it in your makeup kit. It can be attached to the tip to extend the brush handle. The only thing I worry about this is if it will stay tight over time since this may have tendency to become loose.

If any of you have already tried any of these brushes, post a comment about what you think about them. :)

I bought an epilator last week and I finally got it today :) I honestly don't know why I bought it LOL (probably because it is purple hehe) but I felt that I want this. I regularly go to salon to get my underarms, upper lips and bikini area waxed. I tried waxing by myself as well but it requires alot of effort and I find it too messy when I am doing it. I thought I would save time and money if I will just buy this.

So I ordered the Emjoi Soft Caress Gold Cordless Rechargeable Epilator from BeautyChoice.com for $69.95 (+$29.21 shipping). I was excited to get this really but to my dismay, Philippine customs charged me Php1,271 tax for this. I am like WTF?! There is tax for a freaking hair remover?

Oh well, even if I have to pay more than what I am expecting for this I am excited to try this out. :) I will post another review after I have tried it 2-3 times. For now, I will share with you things you get with the epilator and its features.

Packaging: The packaging is good specially if this product is intended to be shipped. It is enclosed in a tight PVC plastic (#3) so the item is secured from damage. The only trade off is I had a hard time opening it. I had to cut it with big scissors. :D

Accessories: The package includes the epilator, adapter, protective cap, massaging finger attachment, cleaning brush, loofah, and carrying pouch. It also includes instructional manual. If you also have bought this product, it is important that you read it before using the epilator.

Product features as written in the package:
  • Luxurious hair remover with 36 patented tweezer discs removes hair from root
  • 24 karat gold plated tweezers remove hair quickly and comfortably
  • Antimicrobial protection against damaging bacteria
  • Enjoy smooth skin for up to 6 weeks
  • Patented Pain Reduction Technology greatly reduces discomfort
  • Removes hair as short as 0.5mm
  • Contoured design hugs your curves
  • Soft touch grip fits comfortably in your hand
  • Gentle enough to remove individual hair on the upper lip and chin
  • Excellent for removing hair on the legs, bikini line and underarms
  • Includes Massaging Finger Attachment
  • Cord and cordless
  • Dual speed control
  • Compact and great for travel
  • Hypoallergenic
As much as I want to try this already, I still need to charge it for 16 hours as indicated in the manual. I will try this for a month or so and will post another entry telling about my experience using this. :) If you have used this product before feel free to share what you think! ^_~

As some of you may know, I got hair extensions about 2-3 weeks ago ^_~ I have been wanting to get extensions for a long time since I really have a hard time growing my hair. :) I got the 22" light brown real hair clip ons.

I did not style it when I took the photo but I usually use iron to straighten my own hair since it is layered and so it will fall flat to the extensions. If I have time, I curl the extensions and then curl the top layer of my hair.

The nice thing about getting clip-ons is that I can either wear short or long hair whenever I feel like it :) Also I don't have to deal about worrying about fall outs once the glue can no longer hold the hair intact.

My cousin bought the 16" medium brown for her wedding and I helped her learn how to put them on, curl and style it herself.

I plan to buy the 16" to give a layered look with my 22" since I don't want to cut it (such a waste to do that).

The extensions is a 6-pc set available in 16" and 22", colors medium brown, light brown and golden brown. It is made of real hair so you can do whatever you want with it. I shampoo the hair twice a week, apply leave on conditioner every night and curl it everyday :D You can also color the hair or have it permed or just do anything you do with your hair.

If you are interested in buying, you can send your inquiries to miyosia@gmail.com for the price and shipping rates :) I can ship internationally, but if you are living outside Philippines, I suggest that you also check out others who sell extensions in your area since you might be able to save more from shipping. :)
